Project Overview
A metal ring manufacturer required an automated polishing solution to achieve a consistent polished surface finish on ring flat surfaces. The challenge: achieving uniform material removal and mirror finish across all rings, at production volume, without manual buffing inconsistency.

Process Flow
- Operator loads rings into fixtures on rotary table (2 rings per large fixture)
- Rotary table indexes ring into position under Wheel 1 (2800 RPM, coarse polish)
- Table advances ring to Wheel 2 (coarse polishing stage)
- Table advances ring to Wheel 3 (fine polishing stage, max 2800 RPM)
- Table advances ring to Wheel 4 (final fine polishing)
- Wax sprayed between stages for lubrication and finish consistency
- Completed ring removed and inspected; next ring indexed into position
